Making Your Own Deodorant is Easy

I keep reading all of this amazing material on aluminum toxicity. And I've seen it first hand. My SIL is this teeny tiny thing, and when she stopped using regular deodorant her depression got better. This article shared:

The MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) on aluminum confirms that aluminum is a poison that accumulates in the brain and tissues of the body. The MSDS on aluminum states the following under Ingestion: "Chronic ingestion of aluminum may cause Aluminum related Bone Disease or aluminum-induced Osteomalacia with fracturing Osteodystrophy, microcytic anemia, weakness, fatigue, visual and auditory hallucinations, memory loss, speech and language impairment (dysarthria, stuttering, stammering, anomia, hypofluency, aphasia, and, eventually, mutism), epileptic seizures (focal or grand mal), motor disturbances (tremors, myoclonic jerks, ataxia, convulsions, asterixis, motor apraxia, muscle fatigue), dementia (personality changes, altered mood, depression, diminished alertness, lethargy, ‘clouding of the sensorium’, intellectual deterioration, obtundation, coma), and altered EEG.
In simple terms, the most notable symptoms of aluminum poisoning are diminishing intellectual function, forgetfulness, inability to concentrate and, in extreme cases, full blown dementia and Alzheimers. Aluminum toxicity also causes bone softening and bone mass loss, kidney and other soft tissue damage and, in large enough doses, can cause cardiac arrest
."

Regardless, I don't like putting anything that isn't natural in my body, and so I have been using my own deodorant for the last several years.

What do you use to make your own deodorant??

Making Your Own Deodorant I Life Essentially Wellness Advocate essential oils
Protecting Blend will aid in inhibiting bacterial growth and help the body detox. You want an essential oil that inhibits body odor and will help brighten your mood. Frankincense is one of those daily use oils, so it makes sense that I include it in something you want to use on a daily basis. Lavender is calming and good for the skin– think baby soft armpits. Lemons helps to purify, fight bacteria, and smells fantastic. Another amazing oil for this DIY project is Balsam Fir essential oil, for those of us that wish there was a coffee IV... yes this helps with your focus. However, you can choose any “low tone” oil. In other words, a thicker, grounding oil. This will help the deodorant stay active longer and absorb more slowly. Some additional good options are Sandalwood, Myrtle, Patchouli, or Vetiver.

Homemade Deodorant Ingredients:

6 Tablespoons of Coconut Oil
1/4 cup Baking Soda (without Aluminum)
1/4 cup arrowroot powder (actually optional, but helps absorb wetness)
Your choice of Essential oils - 6 - 7 drops (your choice)
Note: If you don’t have the ingredients, they are all available here.

How To Make Homemade Deodorant:
1. Make sure coconut oil is warm enough to be somewhat soft.
2. Mix baking soda and arrowroot in a small bowl.
3. Add coconut oil and mix with a small spoon or spatula until very well incorporated.
4. Add essential oils if desired.
5. Store in a small glass jar and apply a small amount with finger tips daily.
