Essential Oil Spotlight - Cedarwood

One of my very favorite oils is Cedarwood. Known for it's rich hues and warm, woody scent, it provides numerous health benefits.

These includes:
- Supports and maintains healthy respiratory functions
- Expedites skin recovery
- Promotes clear, healthy skin
- Works great for massage therapy
- Eases nervous tension and anxiety
- Repels moths and other insects.
- Similar to oregano for external use, but can be used neat

Essential Oil Spotlight I Cedarwood I Life Essentially DoTERRA Wellness Advocate
It's use dates back to biblical times Cedarwood is native to cold climates, thriving in high altitudes and growing up to 100 feet. Cedarwood essential oil has a grounding aroma that evokes feelings of wellness and vitality.

The brand I use, uses the Heartwood part of the tree because it has the highest percentage of Cedrol.

Cedarwood has some great properties:
Antiseptic – so it’s good for acne
Astringent – it can remove the oil from your skin if you have oily skin, but not dry it out
Anti-spasmodic
Insect Repellent (including killing bed bugs, their eggs and repelling them)

According to research, when inhaled, it can make you more relaxed, calmed and soothed. It goes directly to the GABA receptors in your brain. For anxious feelings, apply 2-3 drops to the base of skull, on either side of the back of your neck on the indents on either side may help support you, with it's calming aroma.

It’s great to use on the skin. You can put it in a base, like  hand lotion. Good support for soothing skin and, soothing bumps and such and bug bites topically.

Hair loss –As a licensed cosmetologist, I have seen in this outside study 43% of 43 hair loss patients showed an improvement of hair loss with a combination of lavender, rosemary and cedarwood massaged topically to the scalp daily. Cedarwood essential oil is safe for use aromatically and topically but not internally.

The Cedarwood Essential Oil became a favorite last year, as did Balsam Fir, which is very similar. I  I have to say, the amount of education you get from personal use is like nothing else. No matter if you are a part of my team or not, get yourself to the next educational event.
